An Interesting New Potato On Our Market.....

It seems there is a new potato variety that has become available here in
Oz......At present it is only sold at one supermarket chain here in Oz......

The potato has a low GI figure and should be a lot better than other
varieties for Diabetes sufferers.....

Are there any other varieties available in the USA or elsewhere that has the
same GI rating, and if so, how good are they when compared with the standard
varieties we generally use?

I actually bought some of the Casima's just recently to try out, and
bought some (at the same time) for a friend of mine who is , how should we
say, looking more and more like Buddah every day.

According to the parent site glycemicindex.com, Nicola and Marfona
potatoes have similar low glycemic indexes. In general, the glycemic
index of any potato can be reduced to this level by boiling.

Not so much because they are healthier than most potatoes, but they are
just so delicious. I used to load potatoes with butter, now I hardly ever
add butter.
