An ?ethical? question relating to school tests.?

So we've got a second language writing test, yeah? Due to time constraints the pratice test has been split into two lessons. Our teacher said that he realised that after we'd seen the writing topic first lesson, we could feasibly go home and look up words and bring them back in our heads and that he wouldn't stop us from doing so, because he couldn't. Most people have just looked up individual words that they don't know, but I went and wrote a large passage of text and memorising it, which I can do fairly feasibly. My mates reckon that this is just as bad as cheating, and I kinda almost agree. But if someone else is going to, then I want to. This score could result in me getting into or not getting into a higher level french class, which maybe I'm not capable of.. Am I wrong in doing this?

Yes, you would be wrong. But worse- you would be wasting time and not learned anything from it. You can't go through life cheating- it WILL catch up with you in some aspect. It is a waste of time, shows your character is not very good- if you cheat at this, then you will cheat at something else- and something else. Just because somebody else is doing it doesn't mean you need to. It says you are lazy, a cheater, have no morals and that you are somebody that people would not trust.

i dont think its really cheating more like a loop hole, however if you dont know the material well enough wont you struggle in the higher french class?
