I recently bought a used 03 Dodge Neon with 150,000 mi on it from a private owner. within a week of driving it the stupid belt snapped on it and it is costing me $500 to fix it! now I am thinking I made a mistake with the Neon because I need it to last me 2 years at least and I have been hearing from EVERYONE that Dodge Neons are crappy throw away cars. We went to look at a dealership and I found an 02 Jeep Wrangler convertible with only 44,000 mi on it but it will cost twice as much as I paid for the Neon and I will have to trade in the Neon and pay alot more a month and pay more for gas. SHOULD I GO THROUGH WITH IT? OR SHOULD I JUST STICK WITH THE NEON THAT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP? I dont have alot of other options because I have bad credit and no one in my family can Co sign for me except my father and he is making me think really hard about my decision before he will sign anything.
The mechanic I bought the Neon from said he changed out everything in it that needed to be changed and used it as his personal car. we trusted him because he proved to my mom he was trust worthy before. I needed a car QUICK and we did not have time to search for a dealership who would approve my bad credit.. we got lucky with a bank who loaned us the entire cost of the car and the payments are only $139 a month. THAT is why we bought a car with 150k on it.
