Amsoil severe gear

There have been many this year having issues with Amsoil. It was loud and clunky for me also. I drained it out and used Mobil 1 Vtwin in the engine and Redline in the tranny and primary. It purrs like a kitten now and MUCH smoother. I know I'm not going back to Amsoil.

Whatever !!

Amsoil for me all the way !! Has been for 20 years with no problems or strange noises some say they hear. I think a Harley is so loose and clunky you can pack the tranny with wheel bearing grease and It will still clunk and whine.

Just put the 6 speed Spectro in. Got about 100 miles on it. Not impressed. Tranny is louder the shifting may be a tiny bit smoother. Still cant rush several down shifts.

I been using Amsoil for awhile now and it has been great but this last oil change I now have the clunk and more Engine noise. Maybe it was a bad year, you know like wine.
I only have about 1500 miles on this oil and I think I am going to change it. We will try again.

I've been running Walmart 75w-140 synthetic gear oil in my 09 tranny for about 2k miles. I still have the 5th gear whine but it is quiter now at 5k miles than it was when new. It is darker in color than motor oil, sticky in texture and does have a far nastier odor than motor oil too ....

James, stupid comparison --- diaria and oil, that's like comparing a box of feathers and a box of steel. I was talking about "OIL". 75-90 is the same weight at 75-90 no matter whose brand it is. The additive package isn't going to change that. It will give you different properties(better cleaning, better anti foaming etc.), but the weight stays the same. I've used Amsoil for over 20 years with "Absolutely No Engine Problems? Most people that use other brands can say the same thing.....modern oil is pretty damn good no matter who makes it.
I do not have any 5th gear whine, but do have a slight clunk when shifting into 1st, but not into the other gears. It's been that way on every Harley I've ever owned, no matter what brand of oil I used. When I switched to 75-140 it did get a bit quieter which is to be expected.
The dealer used Bel Ray for one of my services a few years back....I didn't notice any difference, even when he told me.
Saying this oil is better then that oil is like saying Chevy is better then Ford. Neither is true.

I was conned, once again, into putting that Pepto Bismol looking Redline in my transmission and just like the last time, no change whatsoever.

Amsoil 75/90 in mine @ 12,000 mi. - VERY slight gear whine in 4th, smooth in 5th, clunks like a Harley. Might try something else next change tho. I'll decide by HOW HARD IT IS to get neutral when hot. Clunk is because of what the gear is doing.
Many love Redline. Spectro6 is questionable if I go by many postings.
