Amp Mobile Motorola Q?

Can a Motorola Q that is currently an Amp branded phone be ported to Cricket? Or made so it can be on Cricket? I have heard conflicting info.

Flash it to Verizon's Firmware, Load the PRL, Get the ESN changed over at Cricket (Change the ESN on file). Then it should be working. Then do the WAP guide to get WAP and MMS working.

(I might be off slightly, I haven't done one myself)

I'm not sure how necessary it is to flash the Verizon firmware on it. It may be best practice, for the sake of being able to follow the WAP/MMS word for word, but Amp'd does not lock their phones.

I can state this with high confidence: you can get an Amp'd Q to work on Cricket by following the steps on this forum. Plus, I'd imagine an Amp'd Q could be picked up a lot cheaper than any other carrier's right now.

I say flash to Verizon mainly for the sheer amount of Icon's that your going to have that are going to do nothing at all. (i.e The Amp'd Home screen is heavily customized but you can change it) and you'll have non-working item's such as Amp'd TV etc. If you really didn't want to flash to the Verizon Firmware or for some reason wanted that Amp'd Interface than you would probably be able to get it working (as long as all programming code's are the same as VZW / Sprint Q's)

Great point. I just did an Amp'd RAZR, and having that Amp'd TV crap load every time I hit the middle button, which is the menu button on other carriers, was very painful. Flash it to Verizon first.
