American Psycho - amazing!

I finally got round to seeing this, the film that probably made Christian Bale famous, and it was awesome, totally not what I was expecting, and miles better for it. I was dreading a dumbing down of the novel but it wasn't, it wasn't as graphic of course, but it was still really good.

Yes i love this film, i own the DVD. Christian Bale, if you didn't already know, was in Empire of the Sun as a young lad.

Yeah, it's great. Very smart, very funny. I suggest you avoid America Psycho 2 like the plague, though.

Yep I agree. I remember when I saw it first, and my better half was with me, and I was thinking "She is going to hate this", as she's not one for gore, but she loved it too. Less gore than I expected, and a lot more dark humour. Christian Bale does a great job in that film.

i only saw it ages after it came out too, and wassurprised how good it was - although i thought it lost a bit of its edge towarRAB the end.

American Psycho is, IMO, a rare example of the film being better than the book it was adapted from. The book was deliberately extremely violent, pornographic and boring at various times. Take these things out and it's a run of the mill thriller. Translating these elements into film was always going to be difficult and it was done brilliantly by all concerned.

I love the humour in this film. Christian Bale is one of the finest actors around, IMO, and he plays this part perfectly. Nice bod, too
