i'm from australia an am a little confused over the whole american high school maths thingy
in australia there is usually just the one maths class. in that class students learn all topics (including topics like algebra, trigonometry, geometry etc.)
in america i've heard that there are actually separate classes/teachers for different topics. e.g. one class/teacher for trigonometry, another for algebra etc.
can american students pick which topic they want to take and not pick others? i.e. can one students only pick algebra and not pick geometry? orrr do they have to do all topics?
explanation would be much appreciated :S thanks!
