American citizen able to join British Army?

I'm an American citizen, British decent and i want to join the British Army. I've had family that fought for the Brits back in WWI and WWII, so i want to bring back the honor. Can I gain my citiznship through joining the British Army? I heard you can do that in America.

Serving in the military of another country requires giving full allegiance to that country. It is considered a renunciation of American citizenship.
