amateure boxing as a school sport?

why dont they make amateure boxing a school sport like wrestling and tennis, i go to a boxing gym but ive always wondered if the sport would be more popular if schools had a boxing team , cuz when i tell a lot of kids that i go to the boxing gym they ask me if im on the schools team and im like the school doesnt have a team, no school in the US does
