Am I the only one that knows that you lose more weight by dieting than by exercising?

Seriously I've lost a good amount of weight just dieting and had fast results, within a week all my family and friends could tell the difference. I even stopped dieting for a month and ate whatever I wanted, I wouldn't stuff myself but still didn't gain any weight, so don't believe all that crap that you will gain it all back. I didn't run or spend any time at the gym. Exercise is more for people that are slim and want to get tone, is that hard to believe?
