Am I the only one that hates civilization?

I hate our modern life. I'm 18 and am in high school. I remember being a kid and not having a clue about the ugliness of our society. As I grew, I came to understand all the ills that civilization brings, such as physical and psychological harm to humans. Also, the scarring of the Earth by our ignorant ways through pollution, urbanisation, and deforestation. And lastly, the assumption of commitment to conform to society. This includes the modern traditional way through life, which is as follows: school, college, work, and retirement. However, only after retirement are you truely free, and by then all you really can do is sit on your butt.

The list of physical harm to humans due to our civilization is virtually endless. One big one is disease (most modern diseases comes from domesticated animals). Psychological harms comes in the form of depression. Millions of people in America suffer from depression. That is not a happy fact. And the pursuit of the "American Dream" is a futile attempt to reach happiness through the accumulation of stuff. School is a masked prison for kids. Who has the right to tell one how to spend their time? They can't not go, or their parents will get arrested. They arn't free. And the fact that the only way to have a decent paying job is to commit four more years of your life to college in your prime age. And then after that you have to get a job. And even after all that, many people still fall into huge amounts of debt.

I just want to live on a deserted island and live off coconuts where everything will be fine... Anyone else feel like this?

join the club we've got jackets :) I feel the same way it'd be easier to just move away I hate the fact that we all just can't help eachother out give the underdogs a break for once. it's wrong how peoples moral values have dropped it's sick. yet it's life now. all we can do is sit wait and hope we don't get hit by lightening, caus that hospital bill is gonna SUCK

Aah!
The coconuts part is kinda nasty since I am allergic to them but other than that yeah, except I only want to get rich quick and live to be 100+

Flaw is not necessarily bad. Without flaw, evolution would never have occurred. Mutations are flaws in the replication of DNA/RNA, and are responsible for evolution. Without flaw, you would not be able to selfishly complain about a world you scarcely understand. Nature proves that flaws can be made into something more amazing and beautiful than what previously existed.

I believe in second chances and forgiveness of flaws. And so does nature.
