I used to pass out when i was a kid if I saw anything too graphic or suffered some nasty injury. My toe was nearly crushed when i was 11 and i dislocated a finger when I was 14 and I kind of went into shock on both occasions, my head got really heavy and I felt cold but was sweating loads. I kind of shut down for 5 minutes and then slowly come back to life.
I've kind of "forced" myself to watch videos of operations or stuff w gruesome injuries and I think I do build some tolerance for it.
er... the problem is I'm kind of about to start working for an ambulance service as a paramedic student. Will I ever completely get over it? Opinions from health care workers would be awesome!
thanks
