Economics: thinking beyond stage one? The book, Applied Economics: Thinking beyond Stage One is one of many books written by Thomas Sowell. Sowell speaks on real life situations in the economy that affects people from the U.S. to the Middle East. He believes and equal opportunity and prosperity to any and everyone.
The first chapter speaks on the four different stages that allows you to think beyond stage one. Stage one discusses how cities that have high tax rates have greater chances of loosing small and privately owned business, whereas, corporations can come and replace them and not worry about the high taxes. However, in stage two, corporations move in and begin expanding their business to different areas making the corporations become a taxpayer.
