Am I going to jail for my friend stealing?

My friends and I went to a gas station for some gas. We all go into the gas station. My friend goes and tries to steal a bottle of milk and a chewy bar. The cashier sees him do it and calls him out on it. He denys it at first but then takes the stuff out of his pocket and offers to pay for the stuff. The cashier tells us to leave the store. We left and the cashier comes out,I believe he was looking at the tag on the car. Its his car but I was with him. So will I also get in trouble? Will he go to jail? We didn't make any verbal threats or anything to him and I didn't steal. What's going to happen? We are all 18
 
tell the police your side of the story when they question you. And ask them to review the surveillance video and you wont go to jail.
