Am I going to go to jail because of this?

I was pulled over for a flashing red light violation (I slowed down... but didn't stop completely) and I don't have insurance. Also, I didn't have the car registered yet... Basically, I got a ticket for a flashing red light violation, no insurance, and no proper registration. What am I looking at in terms of fines... and possible jail time, or suspended license? Do you think it would be helpful if I showed up in court (mandatory for the ticket) with insurance and proper registration? Also, do I need a lawyer? Please don't lecture me... I don't need it! Its been a horrible day. I live in South Dakota, by the way.

Definitely show up with the car insured and registered. Can't guarantee it, but some judges will overlook that part if you can prove compliance. As for the red light ticket, you will just have to pay it.

I would contact a lawyer anyway, because it's three tickets and you lose your license. Better to be safe than sorry.
 
Get the car registered and insured. If you bring the stuff to court, and can explain why you didnt have it done already (And I dont mean some big lie) those 2 tickets will probably be dismissed. Then if you have a clean record, you may get the running the light ticket reduced, and get probation. Which means you drive super careful for the next year, and it may get dismissed also, if they do that in SD. If they dont, you'll have to pay the fine, on the spot, unless you have made a prior arrangement with the court clerk. There should be a number and an address on the back of the ticket, to call and find out how much the fine is.

I think they would of told you...they would of cuffed you right then and there. No worries, i doubt you will go to jail but i would deff get on it with getting your car registered, and be careful next time!!!
