Am I exercising too long?

I am trying to lose weight and I go to the gym six nights a week after work (I am a server and on my feet for about 3-6 hours a night, too). I run/walk about 3.5 miles and burn around 400 cals on the treadmill (I enter my weight) and then I do about 20 minutes of weight lifting and squats. After that I do 30-40 minutes on the elliptical and burn about 350-400 calories. I eat a 250 calorie soy protein bar before the elliptical.

I am muscular but need to lose about 40 lbs. Most people guess I am 30 lbs lighter than I actually am though. Is this exercise plan too long or too much?
