Am I Boring If I want to Major in Business?

I'm now finishing my freshman year in college. I'm turning 21 (I took a break in between high school and college). With the life experience that I've acquired, I feel that earning my BBA would be best for me.

But family and friends keep on urging me not to. My choir teacher as well as my best friend (an english major) says majoring is "vanilla" and that I should find something with "more flavor". My grandparents are pressuring me into a more academic field so I can earn a PhD.

However, there are several reasons why I'm favoring a BBA:

I want to travel. I will start taking chinese next year so I can look appealing to international markets. Overall I feel that business will help me with traveling. I know it's not always fun and games; Trips are very serious. But it's traveling none-the-less

I like to communicate with people. Preferably one-on-one or in small groups. I am very much not a "big crowd" person. however I don't mind speaking in front of people. I sang in choir for 8 years often doing solos in front of hundreds of people. So speaking isn't a negative.

Characteristically, I'm very organized. I thrive with lists, outlines and schedule. Without organization, my success is minimal at best.

I like to lead. Though I might not be a social butterfly, I love leadership roles. I don't know how to explain it. I just enjoy leadership

I do understand that these are good qualities. But should I apply them to something more interesting? Or is there nothing wrong with business? It just seems that with either decision, someone in my life will disaprove.

Any suggestions?
