My boyfriend of 2 years always talks about how he wants to marry me, and have kids with me etc. I'm 23 and a uni student, and he's 24 and a kindergarten school teacher. He absolutely loves and adores kids and wants to settle down and start a family. I'm not prepared to settle down until i've finished uni and have a decent job. I've told him this and he agrees that I should finish my studies. But still every time my period is late he gets excited and tells me there might be a baby in there. And then when I do get my period, he seems disappointed that I'm not pregnant. We're not trying for a baby and we always use protection.. so I don't know what this is about. Anyway a few weeks ago I found a quote for an engagement ring on his desk. I wasnt snooping or anything, it was sitting in plain sight. I didn't tell him that I'd seen it, I just acted oblivious. Did he put it there on purpose to try and gage my reaction?
I don't know what to think. I love him to death and would love to marry him one day... one day! 2 weeks ago my best friend got engaged and I'm concerned he might see this as an opportunity, or it might give him some new confidence in asking me. I would say yes if he did, but the timing is just not right. I'm still living with my parents!
We're going overseas together on the 26th dec for a month. Do you think he will propose. He told me the other day that he has figured out how he will propose to me. Sometimes when we're shopping he leads me to the jewellers and tries to suss out what rings I like. It's weird like it's exciting and I do want it but at the same time I don't. What's his deal? Or is it me that is being strange about this?
