Hey, my dad looks after my 2 year old brother when my mom goes to work. And since my brother plays with the light switch, my dad loosen up the bulb so that the light won't turn on. And my brother stop playing with the switch.
It's a fluorescent light bulb (those energy saving spiral kind of bulb). I read somewhere that even if they are not broken, they do emit some mercury through the bulb when its working.
And, my dad usually loosen the bulb while its turned ON, doesn't wash his hands, and handles stuff inside the kitchen and touches door handles.
Am I at risk for mercury poisoning? Or is it safe as long the bulb doesn't break?
I told my dad to wash his hands after he touch the bulb but he is one of those people that never actually listens (he will wash his hands if i caught him and force him to but I cannot always look after him saying him to wash his hands.)
Does touching the bulb while its turned ON and touching the door handles, contaminated the door handles?
