I feel like I am but i havent in so long. Im looking back and perhaps overcritiquing my work
Edward Brown
Sunlight falls through autumn leaves
And warms a chiseled stone
Filled with buried memories
Encased in rock and bone
"Always in our thoughts" it reads
"Forever in our hearts"
Love brought him into this world
But death tore him apart
Somber tears slide down my nose
And land upon his tomb
Weathered petals shroud the soil
Where roses used to bloom
Grass has overgrown the grave
Onto his bed of thorns
I scan the date above his head
He passed as I was born
I did not know Edward Brown
Yet he smiles as I cry
He says "death is part of life
You have to say goodbye"
"As you bid farewell to loved ones
Please try to remember
If you keep them in your heart
They live on forever"
I left a rose at his feet
And slowly walked away
I did not know Edward Brown
But I thank him to this day
