Am I able to take my accumulated 1p's and 2p's to the bank?

I need to get rid of all the coppers I have built up. I have a big bottle at home and whenever I have had a spare 1p or 2 p in change I would just pop into the bottle. I have been doing this for years and years, so I have a huge amount now. The bottle is full so I want to ideally take it to the bank and deposit it.

However, I'm questioning they will accept such a huge amount of coins, and whether the bank cashier would be willing to count through all the money there and then.

Just to clarify, I have already sorted out the individual coins in sets of 100p's into the small plastic bank bags.

Has anyone taken their coppers to the bank previously??

THey will only accept about 5-6 bags of coppers per day. You could pay this into your bank account.

My only other suggestion, is you go and use the COIN-STAR machines that are in some supermarkets. There is a charge of 7.9% for using the machine, but you could then redeem your voucher for cash and then pay this into your bank account.
