am i a geek for wearing a bike helmet?

i got a sweet new bike with some of the money i saved up. then my brother bought me a helmet ( a plain black bell helmet) and he said i had to promise him i would wear it b/c he works at a hospital and there are a lot of cases that kids almost die and crap from falling off the bike and damaging there heads or w/e from not wearing a helmet. im 13 and i know a ton of people that live in my nehjood and i don't want to get made fun of for wearing a bike helmet. should i wear it or not. thanks

btw i ride on the street not on sidewalks
