Am being set up for a joke?

Hey guys,

What's your opinion?

I am changing schools this year, going to a new high school. I went to the parent meeting and met some of my classmates. They seem like nice guys, but I think I am being set up for a joke. Jake was talking to me with with a bunch of other students and he said he has a joke between himself and Mr. Smith (a teacher). He told me that on the first day Mr. Smith is going to have everyone in his class introduce themselves. I will be the first one, because I'm new. He said when I stand up, I am supposed to ask Mr. Smith, before I even say my name: "What is your favorite color?" He said not to laugh while saying it, to act perfectly serious. Then Mr Smith will probably ask, "Did Jake put you up to this?", I'm supposed to say "no". Then Jake asked the someone else in the room who else was in going to be in my grade this year, and went over to them to tell them what questions they should ask when they introduce themselves. (I couldn't hear what he said to them.) Then one came over and asked me what question I was supposed to ask and said he was supposed to say, "What is your favorite food?" Then Jake emphasized how I really need to ask it and how no one else will ask their questions if I don't. I am sure it is supposed to be a joke (at my expense) because I am the new kid and I can see how funny it would be if out of the blue I asked the teacher that. Also, Jake has probably done it to other new kids because he said Mr. Smith will ask if Jake put me up to it.

Do you think Jake really has this personal joke between himself and Mr. Smith and everyone would really each ask a question, or would everyone burst out laughing when the new kid falls for this and asks the teacher "What is your favorite color?"

This seems like a pretty lame joke. You have no idea how Jake and this teacher really interact, they may not be buddy buddy at all. Jake might joke a lot and piss him off. I wouldn't do it if I were you.
