Mercury or Lead? The FDA notes that Aluminum is GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) however it is well known that it can act as a neurotoxin. It is strange to me that a neurotoxin would be used in so many food/cooking applications. Are there any studies on what blood levels are safe or what blood levels are toxic?

I know that it is an abundant element and we can't really escape all contact, however I'm wondering if research has been done on the effects of increased intake.
