Alternative Ways to Hard Reset an Android G1 Phone?!?! (Using SDK?)

Hi,

We have an android g1 phone over here that has a broken home button. We're not sure if it's a software or a hardware problem. Since the home button is broken, we are unable to hard-reset the phone, but we CAN boot into recovery mode. The last thing we wanted to try before deciding that it must be a hardware problem is to try to hard-reset the phone from a computer using the android SDK. Is this possible? I tried to google it but couldn't really find anything. Does anyone know how to do this?

If you can get to the recovery console, have you tried just wiping the phone completely?

It sounds like a hardware problem more than a software, but I've been wrong before.
 
i watched tmobile employees getting android training from a cute female motorolla rep earlier today
and ggrant is right, you can wipe from recovery. it will reset your phone.
