I know we are not allowed to discuss specific websites, and not sure about discussing specific books, so I will keep this as general as I can.
As I posted earlier, my nerve pain from my back issues seems to be improving. Even thought it is getting better, I am still in pain. Since all my doctors don't really know what is going on with me and have no treatment options for me at the moment, my DH and I have been investigating back pain treatments.
I think most of us have tried just about everthing....chiropractor, acupuncture, physical therapy, exercise, injections, surgery....you name it! Well, there is this doctor out there who has written a book about Back Pain and the whole Mind-Body connection. At first I was so turned off on this. If anyone tells me my pain is in my head, I would probably rip their head off!! But the more I started researching this, the more it made sense. I have orded the book and am going to read more, but it sounRAB so intriguing.
The premise is this....the pain is REAL. It is not in your head. But the pain is from TMS, (Tension Myositus Syndrom). Basically, the pain that you feel is real. But the pain is triggered by tension and your brain is sending the signals to your back, nerve, muscles. The book teaches you how to train your brain to get this tension away.
Ok, I know this sounRAB CRAZY!!!!!!!! I was the first one in line to call this doctor a quack. But the more i looked into him and this theory, the more i was intrigued. I asked my Orthopedic Surgeon about it and he had heard of it. He told me that while he is trained on science, this theory does seem to make sense and it cannot hurt to try it. There are many high-figure profile people who rave about this therapy and it was even featured on a news station a few years back.
Anyway, I thought I would throw this out there because while it may not be the "cure" for everyone, maybe someone here could benefit. Just do some research on TMS, (Tension Myositus Syndrome) and I bet you will find lots of information on what I am talking about.
