Why don't you try drawing them on around the house and see if you still like them in a few months?
It could be that you get bored of them and maybe you don't want them after all?
Claire's do magnetic earrings too, so you could always buy a pair of those and wear them. That way, you get to look like you have snake bites but you won't be offending your mum!
