Already been to 10 doctors...

My grandmother (who is 89) has been having episodes of severe vomiting and diarrhea. This has been going on for the past year or so, and many times we have had to take her into the ER because of dehydration. The doctors (she has gone to every specialist and seen 10 in the past year) have performed every test in the book, with no results. They even removed her gallbladder last year as they thought her bile was leaking and upsetting her body. No change. She eats a fairly normal diet, lots of fruits and vegetables, and has no known food allergies. We always try to remind her to drink more fluids, especially when she has these episodes. They usually last a day, and after a day or two of recovery she is fine. She can go anywhere from a week, to 2 months before another episode occurs...lately they have been more spread out.

Does anyone have any possible idea of what this could be? We have tried keeping food journals to see if it is anything with the food she is eating, but each time it happens her diet has been nothing out of the ordinary.

When these episodes do occur there are no signs or symptoms leading up to it. She usually complains of a "cramping" feeling in her upper abdomen afterward, which after a few hours of rest passes.

Any ideas or information is helpful, my family and I don't know where else to turn or what to do to help her!!

THANK YOU
