Alltel pay per day plan question?

lets say i get the $1.00 per day plan from alltel with unlimited texting and unlimited nights and weekends. my cousin said all i have to do is hand them $30 and they will activate it for 30 days and then i pay them again for the days that i want. or how do i do this i just wanna know if i can pay for a whole month and then pay again the next month thanx for the answers. might be a stupid question but i really dont know
