Alltel Palm Treo on Verizon?

I currently have Verizon but my friend sold me his Alltel Palm Treo. Can I switch my Verizon service from my Verizon phone to his Alltel Palm Treo?

Well, according to Verizon's website, Alltel and Verizon are being merged in your area. Hopefully this will mean that you can use the Alltel Phone with Verizon service.
