Alltel and verizon

I have googled this and asked around but still not able to get a full complete answer. I recently bought an LG rumor that is an altell phone, assuming that it would work with verizon. Some of the answers have been yes, some have been no, but is it possible to use this altell phone with a verizon plan?

I'm with alltel right now and i wish i could just switch my area code and it's good to go but unfortunately i can't because here in milwaukee they don't have alltel and it would be out of the service circle..BUMmMMmM! i really like Alltel's coverages and will hate to cancel this following month when my 2yr contract expires. W33MAN it's going to be a while before they let you use alltel phones on Verizon.
