allergy to claritan?

i recently developed a peanut, pine, nut and shellfish allergy. Now, with this pollen season, I am a mess. Was at the doctor who told me to take claritan (24 hour)and mucinex d(4-6 hour during the day). 15 minutes after the second day of claritan, I started itching all over, for hours until I finally fell asleep. STill feel itchy this morning. I wanted to take benadryl but didn't know if it was a good idea. I am allergic to two other meRAB that I know of, could this be an allergy to claritan now too? I am not going to take it tonight, but thought of switching to zyrtek, maybe they come in 4-6 hour pills, 24 is a long time to be itching.

zyrtec is 24 hour as well. You could be allergic to the Claritin - or the dyes used in it. It's hard to know sometimes.
