Allergic to the soap in my dorm

At my school, in my dorm, the soap in the bathroom is provided by the girls on each floor. My RAs do it so that each girl gives $2 and they buy liquid hand soap in bulk and refill the containers as needed. Well, I'm allergic to the soap in there. It makes it hard for me to breathe, and it bothers my eyes, and it's just really bad. However, not using soap is just as bad...so, I don't know what to do. Also, while not using the soap helps, it doesn't eliminate the problem because just the smell and residue bothers me as well. I've tried taking Benadryl and that doesn't help, so I'm at a complete loss. Any suggestions?

Have you talked to your RA about your problem? Is it an option for them to try another kind of soap? More than one come in bulk and there are some designed for more sensitive skin.

If your RA is unwilling to help, you might see a doctor at your school clinic about your problem. Maybe they can help as well.

Leave her a note...or contact the Residence Life office and talk wiht them about it. They will get the message to her.

They changed the soap. I don't know what this type is, but it doesn't bother me. BUT, it's just because they bought a whole bunch in bulk, so they must have run out of the other stuff. We had one bottle of this new stuff before. The only problem right now though is that there still is some residue of the other stuff since they don't change the bottles, they just refill them.

I am VERY allergic to different soaps, so when I travel, I take a bar of plain Ivory soap. That is all I ever use.
