I finally got to watching the newest "Total Drama" series, and I'm very much enjoying it. The concept of taking multiple character arch-types and putting them together has always appealed to me. I have always enjoyed cartoon crossovers for that very reason. Shows like "Total Drama," and to a lesser extent, "Drawn Together," give us an idea of how certain types of cartoon characters mash-up. I thought it would be fun to create my own "Total Drama" like cast, but instead use characters from cartoons of all shapes and sizes. I've decided to pick a few characters from different series that I think would round out a "reality" cartoon show well.
Bart Simpson (The Simpsons)- One of my favorite characters ever, and more developed that some characters twice his age, Bart is the original bad boy. For over twenty years has caused mischief in Springfield and any country he finds himself in. Seeing him branch out of his yellow world would be fun.
Anita King (R.O.D. the T.V.)- Anita was the youngest, and some would say most mature, of the Paper sisters of R.O.D. She was a tough as nails character with spunky attitude and a mean right hook. Seeing her interact with more "cartoony" characters would be priceless.
Cleveland Jr. (The Cleveland Show)- Junior has become one of my favorite characters in recent memory. His upbeat manner and funny as hell dialogue make him a great addition to any cast. Creepie (Growing Up Creepie)- I recently discovered this series a couple months ago, and this character is the reason why. Her unique look, strange mannerism, and down to Earth attitude make her as different as it gets, and that's a good thing.
Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof (The Fairly Oddparents)- FOP is my favorite Nicktoon period, and the adventures with Timmy and his magical fairies have made up the bulk of my time with Nickelodeon over the years. It was hard for me to separate any of these character from each other, so I didn't. This fairy foursome are a family, and a varied one at that.
Coraline (Guess
Coraline Jones is an interesting, mature, and resourceful character that could easily carry her own animated series. Not even her stop-motion can stop me from adding her.
Manny and Frida (El Tigre)- This pair was also hard to split apart. The mischievous antic and heartwarming friendship lend nicely to this group, so they're in too.
Wow, this was way longer than I expected. Anyway, that's my dream cast for a "Total Drama" like show. Let me know how you think and I look forward to seeing others.
