I have been searching this forum for the last few days. I am thinking about getting a pda/smartphone/blackbarry ect... and getting it flashed to circket.

I have had cricket for the last 6 years. I own 2 N6265i's. Nice phones, but I am needing a PDA.

This is what I am looking for as far as features.
Internet/Web. (Yes I have the current one cricket offers for 5 bucks, but as far as I can see, its pointless)

VM, Speaker Phone
Picture Called ID would be nice
and so would IM (ICQ, AOL, ect.)

Is there a phone out there that I could use for all this and still be on the cricket network?

If so, how is the internet access and what phone would be best to do all this?

Thanks for the info on the ppc6700. Trust me when I said I searched.

One thing I am having a problem understanding on this forum is a lot of the short hand typing. (I guess I need more txt msg in my life? :hehehe: )

Any input on the internet access on these? ====================> OMW to do more searching on this phone now. THanks again!

Update just incase other people see this:

The XV6700 is a Verizon phone. (Might also be other networks as well) (These phones are black)

The ppc6700 is a sprint phone. (Silver in color)

From what it looks like, they are very close to each other. I myself have not tested this, but it seems the Verizon XV6700 is a little easier to mod)

From my readings here on the forums, either phone can use the cricket internet service but it will be slow. (Current cricket speeRAB)

VM, Speaker Phone = YES. Both phones offer them and use them.

IM (ICQ, AOL, ect...) = I am still looking into this... I will update when I get an answer.

wow, where have you been? There are alot of threaRAB and posts talking about what the 6700 can and cannot do. Thanks for the old news, but we already knew all of this.

1. The PPC6700 is actually used by SEVERAL carriers.. Alltel, qwest, sprint, etc... Sprint is the only one that's "hard" to mod, because they're the only one who lock the MSL/SPC... However, that lock is easily cracked and changed... so it really only adRAB one step to the mod process.. That said, I wouldn't recommend it for a phone programming noob.. If you want silver, buy an alltell ppc6700.. they're also a few bucks cheaper on ebay.

2. IM does not work on these phones... at least not through an IM client.. There is a website which you can use for IM.. the site is listed somewhere in these forums.. not sure where, because I've never used it.

The reason IM doesn't work is cricket's proxy.. it prevents the use of 3rd party applications.. so you also won't be able to use google earth, any interactive GPS software (which requires internet access.. you can use standard GPS stuff which loaRAB maps onto a memory card), weather programs for the today screen, or the outlook email feature.

These phones are AWESOME.. I'd highly recommend them
