Hey. I keep hearing its impossible to flash to an ASW area. I just had an internet chat with rep who told me A few cricket stores out here can do it. Im uploading the conversation. My question is. Even if I do flash a phone to work with cricket here how can i get my esn from a non cricket phone on their network?

ace: maybe. i dont really like any of the phones but i noticed that my current phone Kyocera kx-5 w bt can be added if i have an active account. can I simply buy an account and then add my phone? and do i need to have the esn added to your data base prior to?

janell: Yes you can do this.

janell: You will need to go into a Cricket Store to have this done

janell: Is this a Cricket phone?

Well, there we have it! Mystery solved by one conversation with a rep who is probably one of those reps that can't refresh an account over the phone.

WOW!

From reading your post, it seems that you have a Kyocera kx5 that you want to put on Cricket in the new Chicago AWS-only market, correct? Well, assuming you can flash the phone with the proper Cricket prl and stuff, it still won't do you any good. The kx5 is only a dual-band phone (850 and 1900mhz) and not a tri-band phone (AWS = 1700mhz). Flashing will not change the phone's internal hardware.

One of the few phones out there not from Cricket or Metro that is cheap and widely available and is actually Trimode is the Virgin Mobile Kyocera Jax/Melo.
The only thing is VM phones are a B**** to flash. Especially the newest ones, but at 9.99 online at VM (will be up to 14.99 soon), what's a cheap brick or two to find out if it works? Lol.

Well thanx for the reply. in the event that the new tri band wont take a kx 5 (although i only used it based on the fact its on their website.) i guess she had no real clue what i meant. highly possible it only works in the older areas like memphis. but hey i just want to flash the sprint htc touch pro to the new cricket.
