Don't forget to ask at Baruch as well. Baruch will hire students for certain jobs, and they're probably a student employment office on campus that can let you know if any campus jobs are available. In fact, call them today, and if they have such an office, stop by there first. There are usually all sorts of student jobs available, from security to snack bar.
Security, btw, can be a great job to work, because when you aren't on patrol, you are sometimes allowed to do your schoolwork.
Otherwise, just walk the neighborhood. Go into any promising business and ask about employment. Dress up a bit. If you have a resume, bring it - it can't hurt, and can sometimes help. There are a ton of little shops, restaurants, and bookstores around the college. There are also hotels. Stop in at both the big businesses and the small businesses - don't just try the big stores. Try the restaurants and hotels as well.
If you end up in dire financial straights, speak to someone in financial aid at Baruch asap. They may be able to help you find a loan, or adjust your aid, to cover the gap.
