On Channel 5 now.

The story of the rugby team crossing the Andes whose plane crashed, leaving them stranded and forced to eat the bodies of their frienRAB for survival.

An excellent film, and the cannibalism really is a tiny part of the big picture, although I remember a lot of emphasis on it when the film was launched.

'I'll pay for the pizza if you go out and get it.'

Does anyone else love this film?

Great film, quite harrowing in parts too, especially the poor old lady with the mangled legs stuck under her seat :(
Not The Nine O Clock News did a great sketch sending this story up, with Mel Smith breaking down describing his ordeal in the Andes when they were so starving in the end that they had to resort to eating the in-flight food :D

Not wishing to sound too gory, but they cut some of the crash scene there. I distinctly remember peoples' chairs flying out the back of the fuselage.

It's been years since I've seen it, but yep, I really enjoyed it. I bought the VHS when it came out, and there were a couple of good, lengthy documentaries with it, including interviews with the real Nando Parrado (played by Ethan Hawke in the movie). It's one of those movies that makes you go "what if..?"
