Alien Dalvik - a way to join an exisitng "ecosystem" without changing the OS

I am afraid that isn't going to cut it for Elop. if you've been following the recent news, he is proposing massive changes that we will hear about feb 11. My prediction was meego is going to be deemphasized and I am sticking with it.

It would certainly give Nokia a boost. Usually their phones have very good features built in, but no developer support, make that a practical non-issue and people would go back to choosing phones based on inherrent features rather than the apps they support.

I'd certainly consider a Nokia WP7 device - it wouldn't really hurt for them to do that either, as it's just a matter of making hardware for an OS that is standard across all devices. Android has a hell of a lot of fragmentation, so it would be rather like Samsung trying to get into Symbian.

I suppose there's some advantage to sticking with Symbian, particularly for low end phones, but I'd also hope that with Qt, the UI overhaul they're doing with Symbian and the like that we see all Nokia smartphones going in a merged Symbian/MeeGo direction.

A piece of hardware from Nokia that can run Ovi/Qt and Android apps? I call that adequate!

Naysayers' lack of logic (and blinders) notwithstanding. this should do the trick. People who want superior hardware (compared to HTC, Moto, Samsung, LG etc) will have the option to buy a Nkia.

What they *need* to couple this announcement with is a phone that is available TODAY not next month/quarter/year that can do this!

I mentioned about something like that a while ago. Now it has come true in days. You can check the record of my posts. I got ESP you know :)
