Reported a few weeks ago, but just never got round to posting it, the man behind I, Robot has said that he is currently writing a script for a new RoboCop movie, possibly a remake of the original, and is looking to get MGM to allow him to make the movie. He said he is looking to jump start the franchise again and it may lead to further RoboCop films.

Is this a good idea? Should the original be left alone, I certainly think so. I think he should remake RoboCop 2 or the dismal RoboCop 3 and bring it in line with the first 2 films. The original is a classic, leave it be!

I'm still hoping Paul Verhoeven will do a remake of Battle Royale actually with the same Robocop team behind it.
It doesn't need re-making really, I agree, though Fred Dekker is a far more talented writer/director than Robocop 3 would have you believe - the studio wanted a blood free kid's movie was the problem. I assume Proyas wants to do do a Batman Begins with it and he seems good enough for the job if thy must do it.
Always chuckled when I watched Dr Romero in ER, as I kept thinking about him as Emil the psycho in Robocop.
Actually, there's a guy in my office who's the spit of Clarence Bodicker/Kurtwood Smith.
