Just writing in response to a thread that I saw that is now closed where a woman was told by a doctor that it is impossible to be allergic to alcohol. It is NOT impossible as both my son and husband are allergic to alcohol in any form. This form can even be in the form of aged jam that has had the opportunity to ferment. That took a while to figure out.It can also be triggered by using a glass that has had alcohol in and not being washed out or even be due to the alcohol present in a trifle desert. My husband used to be able to drink alcohol until he had a cell infection from a crayfish spike. My son turned 18 and was legally able to drink and had no reaction the first time he drank.A month later he drank vodka and within 2 hours was experiencing an extreme reaction, including asthma, tingling in his face and hallucinations.Having said that he can hallucinate on throat lozenges.
