Albuteral inhaler

How often can an albuteral inhaler be used? I guess I don't understand if I use it for wheezing/shortness of breath now, when I hit karate tonight, I won't be able to use it again (less than 6 hrs since last use). The only answer my doc will give me is that it can be used every 4 hrs if needed and the factor for how often is dependent on heart palpitations.

I'm sort of stuck not knowing what to do. If the med. office I manage is any indication, my doc's office is just as busy and there's no way I can get an appointment or a call back today.

That's a real conundrum to be sure. If there is any way to avoid using it for a brief SOB episode, I'd do that (try breathing something soothing like eucalyptus or Campho-Phenique). Then you can pre-medicate for the cardio at the gym.
 
When you can't breath it's scary isn't it. I reach for my inhaler when I get a tightening in my chest...but everyone is different some might wait longer before using the inhaler. I am sure in time you'll figure it out.

I will tell you this more times than I will mention I have used the inhaler 3 to 4 within an hour..I did this until someone told me it takes 15 minutes for the medication in the haler to become effective.
