So I traded in my car for a new vehicle. The finance person drafted the contract with the total $ amount they would give me for my trade-in for more than what I negotiated with the salesperson. However, when I signed the contract and saw the value for the trade-in as more, I was happy and under the impression they were giving me a better deal at the end of the day. I gave them my keys to the old car, left it there at the lot, and left the lot with the new vehicle and contract in hand.

Two days later they call. They're now threatening not to pay the lien on the trade-in and asking me to come back into sign a new contract to go ahead with the transaction and before they send the contract to the lender.

The more I read about contract law, I get the feeling I have a good case and that the contract I signed is binding. I haven't been denied financing because the dealer won't even send the contract to the lender for processing before they get a new signed contract.

Anyone with a differing opinion?
