Alaska highway short hikes?

Get The Milepost for $28 at amazon.com. It is the size of a phonebook and details all the sights mile-by-mile along all the northern highways. State, Provincial and National Parks. Trails, viewpoints, museums, etc. There is also a lot in there about stores, services, hotels, etc. but they include outdoor activities as well. And list the visitor's center / chamber of commerce - people who could give you local information.

Once you're up here, I like "57 hikes in Southcentral Alaska"

A lot of hike has kind of mushy ground so tall boots are a good choice. Stone Mountain and Mucho Lake Parks are full of wildlife. Laird Hot Springs is a great place to stop and soak.
