Or you could set up Windows so it won't get infected and just use some common sense. Seriously, if you can't even manage to keep Windows clean you're not going to do well with Linux, not even in a newbie distro like Ubuntu.

Actually, I'm in the dorms and the whole school is connected into one system...From what I understand...Our Interent has a T1 connection, which is really fast for me, and the RA told us to not look at porn, because they can tell if you did and we'll get kicked off the system...I don't know, maybe it's just a scare tactic, but I'm not going to push it.

how would you mount an ISO (cd-image file) under linux using terminal?
P.S. I use ubuntu cause its got the newest hardware drivers. Ive used just about every other linux distro out there and I like ubuntu the most at the moment. This will probably change at some point.
By every other I mean the major ones lol. Not the millions of other spawns. ex: FreeBSD, Fedora, Debian, Gentoo (kinda like debian).

He used to work as a network administrator. That would mean yeah he probally did and does use linux. If his servers where running linux then he would be pretty damn good at using it as well.
I think thats a bunch of shit. i used to be and RA and worked for the computer department at school. There not looking at everyone's computers. They look at the amount of the bandwidth people use as well as flag certian file names to see if there being transferred. They also look at what ports people open up. At my campus they tried to block some of them. They use to look at the ports to see who's trying to do peer to peer sharring. I would mostly watch out not to do that. As far as porn they might be able look at what address you were going to. But I honestly don't think they would care. Ask your RA if he looks at porn, then tell him he's a lair.
