I recently started a job as a census enumerator and i am in an area where many people have guard dogs.
I am not afraid of dogs, I know that if worse comes to worst (which it never has) I would be able to defend myself.
For whatever reason dogs that bark at most people don't bark at me, and i can usually enter someones property without fear of being attacked by their dog.
My only problem is that people are dumping cases on me where the household has a dog. I would like to be able to explain to people how or why I don't have problems with dogs because i honestly just act on instinct and have never had problems.
Our manual provides next to no guidance on how to deal with dogs save not to make eye contact and to try not to fall down if you get attacked so they can't get to you throat.
If anyone knows of any good websites or books that give some simple advice on how to deal with aggressive dogs i would be greatly appreciative.
