Agendus Beta 9

If you'll look under "Feature requests," I have posted a VERY POLITE "sub-rant" regarding pricing policy, and the hopes that Version 8 UPGRADE PURCHASERS get a break on the $9.95.

Iambic are waiving the $9.95 if you purchased Version 8 ON OR BEFORE October 15th (3.5 weeks ago!); I sent in my $$$ for not only the 8.06 upgrade (remember 8.01,02,02,03,04,05 headaches?) but ALSO an upgrade to "PRO."

Now, 2.5 months later, it's another $9.95? I suggested they try and keep loyal customers by allowing 9.0 to be complimentary, since Ver 8 had many headaches and Ver 9 is really to address T5 issues.

There are several large improvements in 9.0 - the available time search, link to photo goes DIRECTLY to original rather than the thumbnail (if I'm reading the list correctly), and you can now attach photos to meetings along with other added features.

Definitely worth having if the REG CODE STICKS; personally I won't even try it until about 9.04 when things "level out."

They can't really be thinking this is fair regarding another $9.95? How long has 8.0 been available as a full version? 5 months? I believe we should ALL POST regarding the pricing, and send emails to James/Adriano/Abigail and whoever else will listen . . . it's just highway robbery to invoke another surcharge for results.

I, too, think it is pathetic they charge for patches.

This is exactly why I purchased the subscription. I don't want to get burned every time a new release comes out. $15 for the year is better than paying full price every time.

"Moron" didn't realize there WAS a subscription; break even point is 9 months since upgrade is $10 and subscription is $15. Still, it would have helped me once and dropshort TWICE, assuming a full version comes out in under a year.

At two per year (Ver 7 and 8) - the subscription would have saved you $5. Guess that's better than nothing!!

I think a good "alternate plan" would be if Iambic charged $10 for Ver9, but let people off on Ver10??!! There are a lot of added things in V9 . . . . who knows - By ver10 there may not be any palms to put it on, at the rate PalmOne are going.

For now it's 8.06 for me and I'll watch the fireworks from the stands.

Not sure why but the demo code on my T3 wasn't working probably related to the fact that I installed 9 over 8. Uninstalled all but the icon's and demo code seems to work now.

There are enough features to justify an upgrade but I'll leave it to PTL to discuss the merits of "value" to a recent upgrader.

Been out most of today and will not be able to give a good review of the beta for a number of days but it does appear relatively stable and there are some minor issues that they are aware of so read the disclaimer if you want to play with it.

Let's briefly discuss that: Yes, it's got some more cool stuff (I haven't installed it and won't).

I'd be curious if:

1. the photo linking takes you to the PHOTO directly (DCIM folder, normally viewed in AcidImage) . . .
2. the photo is that silly thumbnail or full size 320 x 320
3. 62k of RAM is automatically swallowed up by linking 1 photo!
(At that rate, 15 contact pohotos would DOUBLE the app size! That's why I just view things in AcidImage and be done with it.

The pohto management, combined with the "matrix thing" and "free time blocks" would probably make it worth $10 TO ME - especially since I decided to put more into SOFTWARE and FUNCTIONALITY rather than a new T5 . . . but I want to see if it FINALLY fixes any remaining 8.06 issues ON A T3 and I'm not even sure any more what they are. I still say that a THREE WEEK CUTOFF is a little short . . . even 90 days would be more fair.

I do defend Iambic in the sense that people write in to those forums saying "I just made a left turn in a Buick wearing yellow tennis shoes and doing a handstand while changing a to-do to a meeting and . . . . "

I mean, they really stretch the program beyond what it should normally do. I haven't had any 8.06 crashes since the corrupt calendar db thing, and that isn't Iambic's fault.

The PTL jury is out until something workable is up and I see the actual final "improvements list;" considering I use Agendus SEVERAL times a day, I suppose another $10 won't kill me. Shame though . . . they'll lose even more customers to Datebk5, which apparently is working fine even with the horrid T5. Just once I'd like to see some progress without penalty -- no other developer does this and certainly not this often.
