cheers all/

Paul, you little devil you, Agendus is supposed to be my catch phrase ala TealPoint for you.........

I go off to make a living and here you are posting for me the Public Service Announcement. ;)

Can't download until tomorrow so hopefully it's good to go.

TRIED MY DAMNDEST TO CRASH IT AND CAN'T.

I believe unlike "8.03 good, 8.04 terrible, 8.05 fixed" we have a winner here with no bugs -- but you're the expert.

I haven't tried repeating to-do's with alarms and I know your the contact history king, so have at it.

I hope to God it's alright - only reason I found it was checking DAILY to see if anything was out . . . and now it's in flash I really don't want to mess with replacing it with 8.05 again.

The bug about block week view (week change) returning to blanked lower icons HAS IN FACT been fixed.

Before putting in flash, I run Agendus through TealMover and change the default 3300 dynamic stack request to 6000 (which in Agendus' case requires "adding" a file) . . . that way when I'm running DA's I STILL CAN'T crash it because it gets some system "oomph" to begin with and is somewhat protected from additional procedural "drain."

Anyway, looks good. Wait for your word, though.

Because, when it comes to PALM, I may be the dictionary definition of "anal," I checked the VERSION NUMBER page at Iambic. In the last 8 hours BUILD 442 was released as people were still whining about the "Birthday Bug."

I've never felt so vibrant and alive.

Build 441 was YESTERDAY. TODAY is 442. Go figure. So out of flash it comes, to be updated, back to flash . . . I wish these people would get it straight before release!!

Anyone downloading as of 5PM Pacific Time 9/25/04 (err, that's CALENDAR YEAR 200-4!! . . . inside joke for Mooseman) should have the newer 442 which I just got.

I don't understand the whole birthday thing on the T3 anyway . . . I just set a recurring annual event and put a red "B!" Icon on it and be done with it. Never bothered with the internal thing. However people that DO USE IT had birthdays assigned to contacts at work rather than "Aunt Grethel." Poor Aunt Grethel . . . no flash, no TealMover . . . mean set 'o gums, though.

Paul,

since you don't use Outlook for your PIM data exchange - Outlook has a feature whereby if you load a customer's Birthday in it will "exchange" via the conduit's into the T3 and other P1 devices with the enhanced PIM's.

It wasn't working on some device's but your "sample" of annual event is probably the best way to handle it outside of the Palm desktop.

NOW I don't use OUTLOOK . . . and I ALSO DON'T USE 8.06. Not Build 441, not Build 442. Wanna make it C R A S H ? Crash so bad even CrashPro doesn't cover half the screen? Here's how . . . listen now boys and girls, this will be fun.

Go to Month View with icons. Select a day. Hit the D-Pad "Select" button and scroll to desired meeting/to do. Select it. Then close it.

Then go back to month view, use upper buttons or direction pad to scrool through months to February of next year (that's what I chose, you could probably do with any other month!).

Repeat the procedure of selecting a day, but then just hit "ok."

THEN HIT THE Left bottom corner "Home" button . . . you know, like "I'm done with this and want something else."

It will freeze or crash. I'm reinstalling 8.05, with which I had no problems.

So let's recap . . . 8.0 bad. 8.01 bad. 8.02 sketchy.

8.03 pretty good and stable. 8.04 BAD. 8.05 mostly fixed.

8.06 bad.

Whaddaya think, "Church Lady?"

"Well, isn't that special . . . seems our little devilish friends at Iambic are still choosing to beta test for giggles on paying customers . . . could it be . . . . . . S A T A N ? ? ?"

Sure glad I mailed in my $29 upgrade. 5.35 never crashed, dammit. Of course you couldn't have wallpaper of a kite flying at sunset over Paris . . . .

(Actually 2 reasons for that -

1. Wallpaper wasn't available in 5.35, and

2. The French would probably surrender.)

JUST KIDDING all French readers. Love the creme brulee. God, you've gotta be so P.C.

Paul,

I can't get it to do it on the Treo so it may be platform specific. Also, this sounds vaguely familiar to an issue that I had that I traced to the famous @@@ from Datebk5 corruption.

See if after going to January or March if it occurs. If it doesn't occur in January and does in March.....corrupted icon might be the cause. It might not but it's almost exactly the same issue that I had when I was "ranting" as the Church Lady.

Took note of icons in Feburary and cc'd them to Icon Manager (I don't, by the way, keep more than "Icons-Iambic" in RAM - other icons are kept on card so as not to "confuse" anything).

Then deleted Feb icons. Still does it by

1. Using arrows to go to Feb
2. Selecting Day
3. Picking even a blank day "meeting" time slot, then
4. Going back to Month
5. Hitting menu button.

I can barely even get words to keyboard I'm so frustrated . . how do I "fix" a corrupted ICON??? Right now I'm going to DELETE the icon database and reinstall - thought perhaps itf it was a "February icon" I'd rebuild them if necessary.

What a pain -- what a royal pain. How did you rebuild your "corrupted icon?" Surely not by "re-drawing them," I hope.

Thanks Moose. Are you getting my emails by the way? Sent you 3 without response.

ADDENDUM 1:33AM - Deleted February Icons, then ALL ICONS, then MakeSpot Data and finally MakeSpot too. Now with "bare appintments,' no icons and no makespot, crashes just by going to February under month view. Guess whole proggie has to come out now, which means resetting hilite colors and God knows what. Man what a P A I N.

1:54AM - Reinstalled 8.06 Build 442 (not 8.05 which I thought might fix it), reinstalled icons and makespot and m/s data. CRASH ONLY OCCURS IN FEBRUARY EVENTS. January and March are fine. So theoretically, if I don't look at February til I'm "in it," once it's passed and records are purged that will be fine? Is there a better way (perhaps search for "@@@'s" in the desktop?

Copied Calendar and Task DB to card folder, noted important stuff in memo, and DELETED the databases (2nd time in 60 days).

Then went in to Agendus, which said "you need to activate your regular datebook to start" or some other message . . . did that . . .

no crashes. It WAS something corrupt in the database of one of them (I suspect calendar?) so I've reloaded the FEBRUARY stuff first and STILL DOES NOT crash - so it wasn't an icon.

Probably as Moose said some errant record or "remnant" of something weird from another calendar app, although I searched. The trouble is with Palm Desktop AND the built in todo/calendar apps is that you can't research the NOTES section for a date where no record "exists;" in other words you can't look at notes for February 18th 2005 if there's nothing THERE to "activate". Bad.

ALSO IMPORTANT: it would be nice if Agendus allowed record purging FORWARD of todays date - "Purge all records between 1/15/05 and 3/15/05" -- that would have cleared things right up. I'll suggest that to James today.

Thanks for your patience -- all and you -- as well as your expertise, especially Mooseman. This is the second "wipeout" I've had to do and I'm curious why but AGENDUS 8.06 Build 442 WAS NOT TO BLAME, I don't believe. It might have something to do with that Desktop UPGRADE for calendar stuff that came out 3-4 weeks ago - I haven't loaded it yet but might now. Otherwise is something along the lines of "@@@" but FindHack didn't locate ANY. Trouble is, as I stated above FindHack may not be able to find a note section for a calendar record bearing no "title."

Tricky stuff, huh?
