Agendus 10 Beta Annoucement

As some of you know, my fondness for Agendus so this is a Public Service Annoucement about v10 of Agendus soon to be a public beta.

If you go to the above link, you'll see several different threads. One thread has screen shots, one has the features list and a third has a Product Tour.

The product tour requires that you have Blazer installed on your device but if not then the screen shots will have to suffice.

And Paul,

The program is really designed for the wireless user but does include some new features that will benefit other's as well but you can review the features listing for details.

Thanks for the alert Mooseman -- and many will appreciate it. Normally I would have just skipped any "response," since it's for Agendus users. However, since you were kind enough to mention me by name, I'll add this as it's rather important for those viewing and thinking of upgrading: Here's a quote from that link (Adriano regarding upgrade policy):

"If the product has been purchased before August 1st, 2005 then the price of the upgrade is based against the following combinations:

- Upgrade from Agendus 8 (or below) Standard to 10 Standard: $19.95
- Upgrade from Agendus 9 Standard to 10 Standard: $9.95

- Upgrade from Agendus 8 (or below) to 10 Professional: $19.95
- Upgrade from Agendus 9 Professional to 10 Professional: $9.95

- Transition from Agendus 8 (or below) Standard to 10 Professional: $29.95
- Transition from Agendus 9 Standard to 10 Professional: $19.95
- Transition from Agendus 10 Standard to 10 Professional: $9.95"

See that "August 1?" That's 3.5 weeks ago. Longer than 3 weeks? PAY UP! And for me, going to Agendus 10 from 8.06 Pro - It's NOW $19.95. It's $9.95 for 9 and another $9.95 for 10 - so I end up paying for a version I skipped!?

What a load of crap. Do they realize the number of customers they'd gain if they simply HONORED what $$$ has already been sent them in the past by loyal customers? I mean I know Agendus is Iambic's "last stand" in the palm os business, but Jesus. It's the "RSR" Policy - "Really Screw the Regulars."

Well, it may interest some to know that this long-time Agendus supporter and "Payer-Upper/Upgrader" has moved on. I'm humming along with Monthly Planner 2.3.3 - which works on the T5 should I need to switch from the T3. I've got it tweaked, configured and set . . . dropped A5 too . . . couldn't be happier. And at $14.95/lifetime - it was $5 cheaper than the Upgrade fee ALONE, has about 8 less bulky files, is 1/10th the size (122k!), rotates the icons in month and/or defaults to day=headers on opening, and eliminates the string of 5-8 saved prefs Agendus uses. It also leaves the "notes" sections in tasks/calendar with a whole lot less notations - just an Icon#. Sure hope that guy's website isn't hijacked, huh? That's an inside joke for Agendus "followers."

Thanks for the ""non-violating disclosure agreement" info that SOS requested a week ago . . . HEY - wonder when 11's coming out?! I've got all these $9.95's just burning a hold in my pocket . . . please God don't let me have to just chuck 'em in the street . . . Thank God Iambic's here. October 15? Whaddayathink? Oh - sorry - Guess you can't comment on that one yet . . . but just remember everyone: whatever you buy is only really good . . . for 3.5 weeks. Enjoy!

Upgrading to Agendus 10 is free for:

- All Agendus 9 customers that have purchased the product on or after August 1st, 2005
- All Agendus 8 and 9 customers with an active (i.e. not expired) Subscription Service Plan
- All customers that have taken advantage of special pre-release email offers we sent between August 1st and August 15

There is a third option - if you participate actively in the beta process and note any bugs and then you can receive a free copy as well. Typically, you have to find 4 bugs and communicate them exactly so that the developers can find the fix. You also must be certain to follow the guidelines outlined in the beta threads.

The subscription service is $14.95 and does provide if you purchase the product and the subscription service - then you get upgrades for free.

You can check it out for yourself here.

I just wanted this to be clear.

But I'd like this to be even clearer, my friend:

1. The subscription plan to avoid upgrade fees is more expensive than the upgrade fee. Pay 1.5x the upgrade and you get the upgrade.
2. August 1st, 2005 was 4 WEEKS ago
3. I'm not wasting time being Iambic's "test monkey" to find 4 bugs to get a "free" upgrade to a program I PAID FOR. They're essentially paying people $2.50/bug.

If you had purchased the subscription plan which became effective during v8 for $14.95 you could upgrade to v10 for free, even if you skipped version 9. And you'll be able to go to v11 etc.

Iambic's policy is somewhat different then others for sure but I believe that each time they upgrade the product it has added features and benefits compared to the previous version.

For the benefit of all the other's looking at this thread,

Paul and I are efriends and we understand each other's position. And if fact, agree upon Iambic's policy as being "profit" driven and sometimes not customer friendly.

And we will continue to respect each other's view on this issue as well as any others that come along.

Well put, Sir. I almost added a line saying pretty much the same thing myself, but had to "head out and do stuff."

I won't waste anyone else's time blathering about pricing and diluting the main thrust of this thread - which was MM's kindness in alerting all to a new software release. Let's leave it at that and let the customer vote with his wallet. I certainly got an awful LOT out of Agendus for the time I used it - several times a day for many many months - 5.35 was great, 6.14 was fantastic and 8.06 NEVER crashed on me (I'm not a "daily alarm user," and mark birthdays as an annual recurring "meeting" with its own icon).

Cheers, Brother.
