It depends on the car. Some factory amplifiers can accept a speaker-level input; some can't. If yours can't, you can usually install a premium sound adapter to let the new head unit work with the factory amp. In most cases, I don't recommend bypassing the stock amp unless you're replacing the factory speakers.
